Within Tableau, I want to create a data source that uses an external web service. The call to that web service is something like
When I test this in Postman, it requires two security token headers for ID and KEY. Then it works great and returns the desired data in json format.
To implement this call in Tableau, I am choosing a Web Data Connector and using the URL as shown above, but there is no facility to include the headers. Therefor the call fails due to authentication problems.
I am looking to determine if the only option to implement this call in Tableau is to build my own Web Connector?

Hi Gary, to use a web API from Tableau, you must build a connector (or find one that someone else built). Tableau cannot extract data directly from an API. So yes, you will need to create your own web connector.
