Upgraded from Tableau Server 8.3 to 9.2 but no users or workbooks available

I have just upgraded from Tableau Server 8.3 to 9.2 but have an issue that none of the existing users or workbooks are now available.

      I followed the instructions online:-http://onlinehelp.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/help.htm#upgrade_samehrdwr.htm%3FTocPath%3DAdministrator%2520Guide%7C…

and ensured that I was installing to E:\Program Files\Tableau\ rather than E:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server as per the instructions. However, none of the users or workbooks within the previous install of Tableau Server are available now.

I can see in the install directory that there are the following folders:-

      E:\Program Files\Tableau\

      E:\Program Files\Tableau\9.2

      E:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server

However, the following folders are also present:-

      E:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\8.3

      E:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\8.2

Does this mean that the previous installs were actually in the wrong place so the new install did not pick up on the settings from the old installs or something?

How do I now recover from this situation?

I have tried logging a support case but have not heard anything back yet.

We are now in a situation where none of the users can access their reports since beginning the upgrade this morning. If there is anyone online that could help that would be much appreciated.
