When the shapes disappear are they still listed in your shapes folder? Not certain of this but I would try creating a new folder in the Shapes folder under Documents>My Tableau Repository>Shapes for your custom shapes. Add them back into the workbook and see if they stay. Note when publishing to Tableau server you will need to select include external files for the shapes to be sent with the workbook. Below is a general link on using custom shapes.
Here's an example of one:
IF LOOKUP(SUM([Current Total Actual PEI (Cost)]),FIRST()) > LOOKUP(SUM([Current Total Actual PEI (Cost)]),FIRST()+1) THEN 'Up'
ELSEIF LOOKUP(SUM([Current Total Actual PEI (Cost)]),FIRST()) < LOOKUP(SUM([Current Total Actual PEI (Cost)]),FIRST()+1) THEN 'Down'
ELSEIF LOOKUP(SUM([Current Total Actual PEI (Cost)]),FIRST()) = LOOKUP(SUM([Current Total Actual PEI (Cost)]),FIRST()+1) THEN 'Same'
Columns has a date field and I have an Index function filtered to only show one (to get the latest date).
I'm on 9.2.
I created a duplicate folder in Shapes of where I had them and re-assigned. It still did not take after closing and re-opening.
I have the same problem. When I click save workbook or go to datasource page and next back to sheet or dashboard my custom shapes back to default.
When I want to publish it on server I don't have an option "Include external files".
I saved workbook as tbwx and I'm working on extract from oracle database.
What should I do to have "Include external files" option and shapes don't back to default?
I have custom shapes in my tableau repository.
Hi Mary, although this is an old thread, did you resolve this?
I'm having the same issue here.. Working with Tableau 10.1.1 and just a few shapes disappears where I save, close and re-open de .twbx file... Most of them are displayed properly but some aren't..
I'm still having the issue too. Upgraded to V10.2.1, hoping that would resolve it, but the issue persists. As a workaround, I've been replacing my shapes with Wingding fonts, but sometimes they don't show up properly when uploading to Server.
That's very frustrating... Everytime I deploy this workbook in Tableau Server I have to check if this shapes have been uploaded properly and if not, attempt several deployments until they appear...
Anyone knows any solution to this or what may be causing this to happen?
