non-alphabetical ranking of strings to find the most "severe" value

I have a string dimension with the values "Major", "Moderate", and "Minor" for the severity of the incident (genetic mutations in my data). Each row in my view can have multiple incidents. I want to show a mark for the most severe type of incident only but can't use MAX because with strings that works alphabetically and my severity levels don't sort alphabetically. This picture and attached 9.2 packaged workbook show the data and my solution (converting strings to numbers and back again), looking for a better way. My real data has more severity levels.
