To include multiple measures on the same axis, just drag the measures directly on to Y axis instead of dragging them to rows. That should do it.

I don't think there is a way to that based on current functionality, unless someone comes up with a hacky way to do it. If you followed the link I suggested, it will add on measure to the same axis with the same mark type as determined by the mark type you chose for the 1st measure you dragged.
If you followed Adam's approach, you can use 2 mark types as you have already guessed in your initial post. With the difference in Adam's solution being you can add multiple measures on the same axis by using measure values on the color shelf of one of those 2 axes. Mark types then can be different for the axes.
So basically, mark types are chosen per axis, not by how many measures there are in the view. Maybe you can use 3 different charts and use a dashboard to align them. Thats the only thing I can think of.
