# Trying to Dynamically Sum Top Ten Clients for Percentage of Total Revenue Chart

I'm working on an item to show what percentage of the total revenue earned in a period could be attributed to the top ten clients.  I want to be able to show the top ten clients in a variety of different cuts and they should hopefully update dynamically.  For example I'd like to be able to show the top ten revenue as a percentage of total revenue for a given month, a given geographic area, a given region and account manager.

Is there a way to sum up the top ten so that I can divide it by a TOTAL(Sum(Revenue)) table calculation?  I've attached a sample workbook along with the ranking formula I've been using up until this point.  I'll be happy to try to explain further.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

Please find the attached workbook created using Tableau 9.0.4.

1. Create a Top 10 Client sets

2. Drag it to rows shelf

3. Drag the Client to the Rows Shelf

5. Then Create %of Total using Table Calculation

6. Go to the Analytic pane and drag the subtotals

7. Create a region filter and add to to the Context.

Thanks,

Venu

Thanks @Venu Babu Kolasani, this is helpful.

Is there any way to get the values that result from the IN set to act as a value for use in a related chart on another tab, essentially acting an interim calc?

For example, I'd be interested in creating either a bar or pie chart to show the impact of the top 10 as a percentage of the total amount; by 1 or more criteria that can be selected.  (By Region and/or Project Manager) would yield a different chart.  I hope I'm explaining it sufficiently enough.  I envision the dashboard looking something like the quick mock up attached.

I can work thru the formatting of the charts; but just having trouble getting the underlying data I need a Dynamic Top Ten Revenue measure.  I'm not even sure if it's possible.

Thanks for your help on this!
