command line utility : refreshextract problem

    Jérémy El Aïssaoui

Hello I am facing a problem with the Tableau Server command line utility. I’m using several published databases that need to be refreshed quite often (all together at once). I’m using a small .bat script to launch a « refreshextract » command for each database. The .bat has the following form:

tableau refreshextract --server http://mytableauserver.com/ --username myUsername  --password myPassword --project myProject  --datasource DB1 --original-file path/DB1

tableau refreshextract --server http://mytableauserver.com/ --username myUsername  --password myPassword --project myProject  --datasource DB2 --original-file “path/DB2”

      …(total = 7 databases)

      pause

Now comes the strange part: the behavior of the above is quite random. Sometimes it works just fine and everything is refreshed, sometimes one or two databases fail to be refreshed (one in particular is often problematic) and we get for each the following error message: Tableau Data Engine Error 4: Invalid Command: database: Path does not exist.

But the path is correct and most of the time it works after running the exact same script 2 or 3 times.

Could it be that the several requests come to fast or something like that?

      Thanks in advance.
