are you using AD authenticaton or Local Auth? if you're using AD authentication, then it should work... Is there really an AD user account named "Administrator"?
I am not using AD, I am using the Windows credentials.
I have now rebooted the server and logged into Windows again using the Administrator username and password. I still have the same problem when I try to log into the Tableau Server.
One thing I noticed - there is a Nickname in the AD Nickname field. This must be leftover from the server 8.3 installation. Is it possible that this is causing a problem? I did not set up 8.3 so I do not know the specifics.
yeah, I'm not sure if the nickname would affect it, but I somehow doubt it. Are you sure that you're entering the password correctly? I don't know what else it would be, you could always try a fresh install.
Yeah the old "am I tying this correctly" problem. I tried it so many times and yes I have the password correct. The thing is, when we set up Tableau using Windows authentication, it checks the password before we can complete the setup. I know this because I mis-typed the password the first time. In other words, the password I enter in the box during setup must match the Windows password. so there was no chance of a problem there.
Anyway, I am going to remove and reinstall.
OK, I have removed and reinstalled Tableau Server and I still cannot log in through the browser. I get the feeling I am going to feel pretty dumb when I figure this out.
