# How to create "traffic light" indicators based on KPIs

Hi All,

I'm working on my first dashboard and got stuck so would love to hear some suggestions from more experienced users.

Task: Create a panel with weekly, monthly and yearly sales and traffic lights indicating sales versus previous year and versus goal (goal =previous year + 5%).

I've attached my workbook. Thanks in advance!

Eduardo,

I have a dashboard where I use red yellow and green to show if we're meeting the target.  In mine, I change the color of the actual text versus using an icon or shape.  Below is a piece of the formula I use to do this.  Maybe it will be helpful.  Once I get the calculated field right, I drag it on the color card and assign the color.

Yours will be slightly different and you probably wouldn't need the first IF part.  Mine is a long calculation with one of these iterations for every HCAHPS question.  Where I have hard coded values, you could simply reference your goal field.

IF (ATTR([Question])= "COMM W/ NURSES") THEN
(IF AVG( [%]) >=86.61 THEN     "Green"
ELSEIF AVG([%]) >=78.19 AND AVG([%]) <86.61 THEN    "Yellow"
ELSEIF AVG([%]) <78.19  THEN    "Red" END)

END

Thanks Hope. This logic is definitely helpful. Now I'm having a hard time to do all these table calculations (year, month and week) and then bringing them all together. Thanks anyway.

Hi,

First import that specific Traffic Lights from google,

Then use Mark Type as "Shapes" then assign the traffic lights to your claculated field on the view.

Best Regards
