Just move to Server Admin space. They should be able to help you.
This is something for report data. If the data value exceeds some limit, the email will shoot. my requirement to get alert for tableau extract if it will be failed. How to capture the failure message.
There is no built-in functionality to do this natively in Tableau, as of yet. The closest you can come with the out-of-the-box features is setting up a Subscription that runs daily against a view that captures your extract failures, which will then be emailed to you. You will get the email even if there are no failures, however.
There are a few solutions I know of to do what you are asking:
4. Write your own script that queries the PostgreSQL repository of Tableau Server and emails you when there's an issue.
There are undoubtedly others besides those, but those are the ones I know of.
I am currently using the first solution to email me hourly should any extracts fail (excluding certain problematic extracts). I've set it up such that others can be emailed for their own content failing to refresh, as well, without additional work on my part. I may be slightly biased, in that I authored that particular solution, however...
If you want to do your own script, the best way would be to query directly the internal repository to get the information (view _background_tasks).
Below is a link on how I do this using Pentaho (open source ETL tool). Basically it checks the Tableau repository for failed extracts that happened in the last hour and then emails the owner. I have it run hourly.
