Thanks Daniel for the awesome session and code sharing. I was in the TC15 session and it was the best session for me other than key note. Can you pls summarize again the differences between Web Data Connector and Extract API?
There isn't a great way to link directly to the recording. You can get to it through these steps:
- Go here: Virtual Tableau Conference Registration
- Register and click submit
- Select "On Demand Sessions"
- In the search box in the top right type "unlock" and search
- This presentation should be the first result.
Thanks Daniel, I really enjoyed your session at TC15 and the hackathon.
I was playing around with my data connector that I started at the hackathon and it isn't working anymore.. in fact none of the examples are working now (seems like it started happening when I updated to 9.1.1.
Here is a screen shot of what I am seeing while playing with the example StockQuoteConnector
Going to update this.. I found the logs and it wasn't pulling the web data connector .js file down from tableau. I referenced a local copy and figured out that, for whatever reason, tableau is not able to connect to internet.
Found this in the logs:
Origin http://localhost:8888 is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.
Another Update: Seems that 9.1.1 updated some proxy stuff and I'm behind a proxy.. this may have a lot to do with it. I had a coworker download the sdk and try it as well and got the same error.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we will investigate the proxy issue. The error banner should not prevent the WDC from functioning correctly however. You should be able to extract data correctly from any valid WDC even if the error bar is there. If that isn't the case, let me know, there is likely something else at play. We are looking into a better solution for the error bar; it is showing up in more places than intended and that is, of course, quite confusing.
