Raj Garimilla Oct 28, 2015 11:11 AM (in response to Jeff Strauss)Thanks Jeff.
Every time I want to publish a workbook from Dev to Production, I have to change the Server name and database details. And each department has their own site within the production tableau server.
If I have 10 sites, I have to publish 10 times from desktop for each site seperately. And the problem multiplies for more number of workbooks. This is taking a lot of time and causes confusion.
I tried to do this using tabcmd , but it is not respecting the userthumb nail option.
Is there an easy way to do this ?
Thanks,
Raj

I haven't had to deal with the user thumbnail option, but may I ask why each department has their own site? I am not a big fan of sites from an overhead administration perspective, and much rather prefer using the project deliminator to split content by permissions.

Raj Garimilla Oct 28, 2015 11:48 AM (in response to Jeff Strauss)We have implemented multi tenancy using sites for mutiple clients. Users have the option of developing their own dashboards and saving in their respective sites. We see problem when we develop content that is common for all clients and publishing them to all sites.

yeah, it's going to continue to be a persistent maintenance nightmare if you have the need to deploy a common dashboard to all sites. Are your clients all internal (e.g. separate departments)? If so, may I suggest allowing the analysts to publish to projects that they have permissions for and then common dashboard can be published once to the "all users" group.
My 2 cents. The only benefit to sites that I can see is clear deliniation by way of storage quotas and development of usage metrics.
