I work for UHG and I am new to tableau. I have some of the basics down, but I don't know how to manipulate counts across more than one field. My example is I have an ID field and a topic field. The same topic can appear multiple times with the same ID within my dataset. However, for reporting I want to count each topic only once per unique ID. How do I tie the topic count to the ID field?
Great question. If I understand correctly. Tableau has two options to accomplish this. You can do a "right click" on the variable and select Count Distinct to count unique IDs or you can create a calculation (CountD), but your file will need to be in .twbx.
