Running Sync Client & Tableau Desktop on Windows Server 08R2

I currently have Tableau Desktop 9 installed on my Win 7 PC, I created all my workbooks on my PC and then upload it to Tableau Online, I use local data source and uploaded data source to online as well, in order to use Sync Client to keep data refreshed on Tableau Online, my PC needs always be powered on and the Sync Client app must be running on the taskbar. Whenever I logged out or shut down my PC, the Sync Client will be closed too, the update will not be running.

Question: Our company has a server running Windows Server 2008 R2, and it is always power on. Can I install Tableau Desktop on that server machine and use sync client from there?  The server is always running so I guess the sync client is always running too. Should I use a Virtual Machine environment for Tableau Desktop on that server machine?

      Currently we have:

      Tableau Desktop 9.x Professional license

      Tableau Online license

      My own Win 7 PC

      Windows Server 2008 R2

Local data source (txt files on network drive)
