Your desired result doesn't make sense. Why do you want to do the Server's job?

Kalpana rayapati Aug 10, 2015 6:10 AM (in response to Toby Erkson)Hey Sorry Toby,
As my explanation was not clear it resembling that i am doing something else than the normal. Actually i need to take the backup of the workbooks those are published on the Tableau Server. I thought just like the extracts Workbooks might be saved physically in Tableau Server. So i need to find the location.
I am not doing Server Job Toby. I am not that much capable enough to do it so......
Thanks,
Kalpana

Okay, I understand, thank you
So, another question, why are you not using the tabadmin backup command? The Server doesn't need to be stopped when the backup is running.

tabadmin is for Server administration work but for regular interactions, like a user interacting with the Server, one would use tabcmd:
There are two commands (and I don't know why) that you can use to download workbooks, export and get. The trouble with these commands is that you need to know exactly what you want to export/get
There is this: What's in your workbooks? The TWB Auditor v2.0
It's Andy Cotgreave's What's in your workbooks? The TWB Auditor but I added the ability to download workbooks. Naturally it uses VBA since it's a Microsoft Access application. If you understand VBA then you could modify it or pull out the necessary code for your needs, however, it will work as-is if you just want to pull workbooks from the Server. It is not fast so if you have hundreds or thousands of workbooks then this is something you would want to start running right before you left work

It's my understanding that the workbooks/dashboards are saved in the Server db, not as individual files like the .tde that you saw.
