Thank you for the connector for Facebook. I'm hoping you could help shed some lights please.
I have issue after I clicked 'Get account info'.
I only see one Facebook page (which is 'River Murray SA). I have definitely been assigned as 'Admin' for another 3 pages on Facebook. But the connector couldn't pull those pages out for me.
Can you help please?
Thank you in advance.
After much pondering, testing and googling, I've worked out what the problem was.
Turned out I only allowed 'Tableau Junkie FB App' to access one page and not all.
If you encounter this issue, you'll have to change the Authorised App's setting (How do I edit the privacy and settings for my apps and games? | Facebook Help Center | Facebook). Find Tableau and click all the pages that you want the WDC to have access to.
I've also the same question. Is there a way to obtain other metrics from Facebook? With the WDC from Junkie I only get the page feed but that is only a summary.
Hi! Thank you for this post. I cannot seem to find whether it's possible to track "followers" of a Facebook page. I see you have "likes", "posts" etc, but I'm also interested in "followers". Is that possible?

I just checked the Facebook Graph API and it doesn't look like there as an API call which returns the number of followers for a page. The full reference guide is available here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/v3.0/insights
The closest might be to get the page_fans which gives you the number of people that have liked your page as shown below:
Either way you will need to extend my WDC to return this additional information.
Hi Alex Ross
First of all, thanks so much for your WDC! It really helped me grasp some of the behaviour dynamics of our Facebook page fans!
I work for a blood bank, so it's critical to keep user engagement high so that when we get a blood shortage we can have the maximum impact on our fans.
Which is why I'd like to use your WDC to set up a set of KPIs on our Tableau server
However, when I try to add the WDC as a source to Tableau server I get the following error;
What I really don't get is that I whitelisted this source using information from this helpful page, yet no change. Even stranger is the fact that the timestamp says it failed at 10:52 when I whitelisted this source after 11.
Since then I also have turned off and on again the Tableau service and the server. Yet the timestamp remains the same.
Thanks a lot!
We never fully implemented the WDC only did some testing with limited success. Sorry I can't help you further.
I never designed the Facebook WDC to work on Tableau Server I'm afraid. When you sign into Facebook, the WDC is provided with an oAuth token which is used to retrieve your data but it will expire and can't be used to automatically refresh the data on Tableau Server without some additional logic.
There is a section in the WDC documentation which explains how it is possible to manage authentication on Tableau Server, but it would require some modification/enhancement to my WDC to get this working:
As an aside, this Facebook WDC was written using v1.1 of the WDC SDK and could do with being updated as the most recent version is v2.3.
Thanks for your answer! I'm a bit disappointed but at least we got to the bottom of this...
Do you know of any Facebook WDC that works with Tableau server and can pull information on Facebook posts rather than on the page?
Thanks again for your assistance
