This solution comes form Jonathan Drummey's "Crosstab of Many Colors" that Jordan Bunker mentioned in his reply to the post you found: http://public.tableausoftware.com/views/conditionalformattingv4/Introduction
You will need to use the same trick of creating a multiple axis crosstab with a "fake" axis for each measure and then applying labels to each metric. In order to get the label removed from the totals, you will need to set the label to ATTR(Buy Notes) and then you can right click on the label-->Total Using-->Hide
