It is recommended to have AD authentication applied not just for Tableau but of all other applications. Why don't you first move all the users to AD and then implement the server. That way all previous data can be backed up and restored later. Found few KB's on similar issue :

As far as I know you cannot change the username from UI or from server API.
I would try to update the users directly in the public.system_users table (name column) except for admins. Test it on QA and if works fine, then it works fine
@Kishan: if they move to CA SiteMinder and SAML then it makes no sense to use AD

In your opinion - what that action can cause? I mean 'hardcoded' lowercase values in TS Postgres DB table.
Problem is that with AD sync we have users with lower case and upper case in Tableau Server, but they are from the same AD group and in AD they have lowercase names. Tableau Server returns username as lowercase or uppercase usernames after sync with AD.
Any reason why it is happening?
