Great timing! We just launched single sign-on support via SAML 2.0 for Tableau Online. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Will this allow for a "one time login" experience for the user?
Currently, I am working on a workbook loaded to Tableau Online. The workbook is embedded in our companies website and accessed through a button action. The problem is, the user will need to login in twice; once to the application (website) and then in to the Tableau workbook.

If your company's website also uses single sign-on via SAML 2.0 (and the SAML Identity Provider allows embedding of their sign in page), the answer is YES!
When starting to browse the company website that uses SAML, the user will authenticate with the SAML Identity Provider (IdP), then, if the Tableau Online workbook is embedded in a page on served by the company web site (see example code below) accessible from the button action, the user's authentication to access the workbook on Tableau Online can be "transparent" (if the IdP allows).
Steps to make this work:
As a Tableau Online Site Admin:
- Check the Configure "Single Sign-on with SAML" box from the Settings->Authentication screen in Tableau Online and follow the all of the configuration steps (See Tableau Online help: Configure Site Authentication) - including adding the users needing access.
- If your IdP allows embedding their sign in page in other sites, set the Default Authentication type for embedded views section to "Authenticate using an inline frame" at the base of the Settings->Authentication screen in Tableau Online
The iframe src URL you'll need for the workbook can be found in the "Link" box after selecting "Subscribe" "Share" in the top right hand side of the open workbook:

This is really helpful. Also, I believe you meant "Share" instead of Subscribe.

Great catch (corrected in the article above) - thank you Matt!
embedding dashboard & enable guest login will work
