Tableau 9.0 - Parallel Query Execution

    Douglas Lam

      Hi All,

I have a couple questions about the Parallel Query execution on Tableau Server. I would like to get clarification on.

By default, the parallelism is set to 16 concurrent queries. Does this setting apply to individual backgrounder or shares among all? For example, I have 8 backgrounder processes, and have default concurrent values. Does each of my backgrounder can run 16 queries?

If it is a shared pool, then how does it work when an extract for Workbook contains 16 data connections run? It doesn't sound right for one backgrounder to take up all the connections and the other backgrounders remain idle...

Thanks in advance for your reply.

      Regards,

      Douglas
