I'm not sure what to call this problem, but I have survey data (dummy data attached for simplicity) where a respondent gives Job Title and the type of data they work with (Data Type). I want to calculate the percentage of each data type by group.
When I create the analysis, the percentage for GIS Analysts using CSV data should be 2 / 7 = 28.6%, where 2 out of a total of 7 GIS Analysts responded with using CSV data.
However, when I do a Table Calculation of Percent of Total summarizing by Data Types I get 11.76%, and when I change summarizing to Job Title I get 16.67%.
I can set up the Table Calculation to give the desired percentage of 28.6%?
There are 7 GIS workers: 4 analysts, 3 Techs. In total, 5 of the 7 are using CSV. Not 2.
Your initial calculation is not correct.
28% is appearing only when you compare between GIS analysts and techs.
When including statistician and tech info specialist, the denominator is >7.
