Best way of displaying WoW and YoY across multiple metrics

    Alan Treanor

I'm trying to come up with a simple report that displays data week-on-week and year-on-year data across a large number of metrics (~20) in the following format:

      MetricThis WeekPrior WeekWoWPrior YearYoY
      Users
      Transactions
      Revenue
      Avg Order Value
      etc

This has proved much more difficult than one would naively think it should be. The best option I've come up with (attached) is to combine two worksheets into a dashboard, with the first workbook containing the raw numbers and the second containing table calculations for WoW and YoY. This isn't great because it's fiddly to have to use a dashboard and you can't export the numbers to an Excel file.

The alternative would be to have one worksheet per metric and use calculated metrics for WoW and YoY. These worksheets would then have to be combined into a dashboard. Given that I have around 20 metrics, this would be a huge hassle.

Is there a way to accomplish this in one worksheet?!
