Here's the list of tabcmds: http://onlinehelp.tableausoftware.com/current/server/en-us/help.htm#tabcmd_cmd.htm?Highlight=tabcmd
'Publish' is the command you're looking for.
But you really don't need to republish every time the data is updated. All you need to do is refresh an extract of your data. You can do this in server by scheduling an extract to happen after your Excel file has been changed. But you will need to take care or you might end up refreshing a static copy of your original Excel file. Read this: O Extract, Where Art Thou? | Drawing with Numbers So you'll understand how to set things up correctly.
No, I dont want to publish again n again.
I just want to know how to give the commands in tabcmd and workbook is live to the Excel in a particular folder path, so whenever I open the workbook from tableau server it will show with the updated data.
Sorry, I misunderstood your need. I also don't understand your need. So unfortunately I can not help you. Maybe others can.

- Put Excel workbook in a Shared folder that Tableau Server and the user account Tableau Server runs under can access
- Design the Tableau workbook so that it uses the Excel workbook VIA a UNC SHARED PATH like \\someMachine\SomeShareOnTheMachine\MyWorkbook
- When you publish the workbook turn off the "Include External Files" option.
There is no need to use TabCmd to do this work - just use Desktop which allows you to de-select Include External Files.
Ok, Thanks for the help, but here i dont have tableau desktop so i am using tabcmd to publish the workbook, so in this case how to give the command for (de-select include external files*).
You’re stuck. Only Desktop gives you this option.
We have a published workbook based on a "live" connection out of a BW data source. As all of us know that there is no extract option available for BW data source in Tableau 9.0 and we do not want to use any external tools like Xtract Universal to create an extract and use the same.
Is there a way i can refresh this live connection using tabcmd? My assumption is that tabcmd with refreshextract option, i should be able to refresh the workbook which in turn refreshes the data source. Any idea? Has anybody tried this?
Note: There are no options available to schedule live data sources in Server
Thank you for your response in advance:-)
