Good question. I already have access to all the tables so I can't tell.
Seems like there were some more kinks to work out and as such, it's been pushed back. While I don't know exactly when, I do not believe the feature is slated for any of the 8.2 or 8.3 releases, although that could change.
I was told yesterday that 8.2.5 will have it--but don't count that as a promise on my part!
I’m pleased to announce that with Tableau Server 8.3 AND 8.2.5 (released today), all customers now have read only access to the entire postgres repository. Yes, every single table, not just the “_” views and history tables. In addition to the original “tableau” user, there is now a new “readonly” user. The “tableau” user still has the same restrictions as before.
