# Calculations on a rolling 12 months

Hi All

Need some help here on a calculation.

On sheet 4 I am working on a rolling 12 month calculations for EBITDA and revenue etc  .When I bring the rolling 12 calculations into the report, I get a bunch of numbers instead of total number . How would I fix this?

I also notice when I change my date on my parameter, the report shows multiple months,

thanks for any help

What role does "School #" play being on the detail?

• ###### 2. Re: Calculations on a rolling 12 months

The school numbers get grouped into one of the occupancy ranges.  A school  # is unique to all data, while a school name is  not due to some schools can have the same name.

What I am attempting to do is group occupancy by the school # for a rolling 12 month from a specific date. I don't think the school # needs to be in the detail but it does need to be part of the calculation in getting it into one of those occupancy ranges.

There's a bit more info from Jerry here, where I was trying to figure it out:

calculations from multiple dates

Just to to be clear. These are 2 separate questions The link Matthew provided is a 12 month look forward and back with multiple starting dates as a starting point for different schools.  Idea here is that a school has  performance date or P4P, which means that its the starting point of when they go on performance review.  The schools on the P4P usually have different starting date. For example, School A might have started their P4P on June 2014 while School B might have been December 2013.  I would need a calculation to look 12 months back and forward from June 2014 for School A and School B would be on 12 months back and forward from December 2013.  The metrics could be revenue, head count or any other metrics and used to see how a school on P4P is trending.

This one is a rolling 12 all from a specific date. I take the sum of ending FTE count for each school during the 12 month period, and divide it by the sum of capacity for the same 12 month period.   This produces the Occupancy % for each school and that % is used to put a school in one of the categories of occupancy ranges.  All the schools in the same occupancy grouping get grouped together to get a total number of revenue and EBITDA .  This metrics is used to see how schools in a certain occupancy group performs year over year and vs. the other occupancy groups.

Its no problem.  These rolling calcs are not my specialty, so hopefully I'll learn something in the process as well.
