This is usually because your Tableau Server can't reach the map servers on the internet for some reason - proxies, firewalls, etc. The easiest test is to install Tableau Desktop on the server and see if it works there.
Currently I am using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server trial versions. Both are installed on VM's.
So what are the proxy and firewall settings I need to do in order to get online maps work on Tableau Server.
Well i had gone through this link before.
But i was not able to follow the 5th step i.e..
Select the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box and complete the appropriate address and port number text boxes.
I din't know what address and port number to fill in.
are you sure you have a proxy between you and the internet? if you do, your local IT resources can help you.
If you do not have a proxy or firewall blocking you, follow Dan's advice by putting Tableau Desktop on the Tableau Server machine and continue to work with your local IT resources to find out why the traffic to the map servers is not getting through.
I have both Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server installed on same machine.
So according to your suggestion it should work for me.But still it is not working.
There is no other way to get the online maps work on the Tableau Server???
