    praveen p

      Hi All,

Can someone please suggest if below mentioned thing is possible in tableau

Line chart for month wise repeat users for Apr’13-Apr’14
      period –

Example: While calculating repeat customers/users we need to consider

      a) Apr’13 repeat users: data for FY 2013 will be considered,

      b) for May’13 repeat users, data for FY 2013+Apr’13 will be considered,

      c) for Jun’13 repeat users, data for FY 2013+Apr’13+May’13 will be considered and so on....

      Thanks,

      Praveen

          Hi Praveen,

          Attached file is having solution.

Here I had created a year parameter & also created two sales field. One for this year & another for previous year. Also, changed the fiscal year month to April.

          For this year Sales -

if [Year Parameter]==([Year]) then ([Sales]) end

          For Previous Year Sales -

if [Year Parameter]-1==([Year]) then ([Sales]) end

          Running Sum of Sales -

if attr(month([Ship Date]))==4 then window_sum(sum([Previous Year Sales])) else

          running_sum(lookup(sum([Year Sales]),-1))+window_sum(sum([Previous Year Sales])) end

          Hope this may help!

Also always try to add some sample workbook(.twbx) file according to your data source so that we can suggest you according to that.

          Warm Regards,

            Hi Prashant,

Thanks a lot for your help.

I will try the same on my data and will let you know with the results

However the above workbook is for years, please let me know if it is possible for month

Actual requirement is know the count of repeat customers may be "count(customer name)" in case of superstore data

if we want data for 2013 then we select FY2013 and all months for FY2013

When we require for April 2014 then we need whole data from FY2013 and also April 2014

For May 2014 we need whole data from FY2013 and April 2014 and May 2014

For June 2014 we need whole data from FY 2013 and April 2014 and May 2014 and June 2014

            and so on....

            Please suggest

            Thanks & Regards,

            Praveen

Just create a running total and reset by month.

All running totals may be reset by day, month, quarter, years.

This is a std function and may be drawn as lines. You have to use a separate running total for each reset function.

Hope this helps. Otherwise post you workbook example and I will show you how.

                  Hi Diana,

Thanks for the reply I am attaching a sample file based on superstore

I would like to find the count(customer names)

Please help to find with the below requirement

data for 2012 then we select FY2012 and all months for FY2013

When we require for April 2014 then we need whole data from FY2013 and also April 2013

For May 2013 we need whole data from FY2012 and April 2013 and May 2013

For June 2013 we need whole data from FY 2012 and April 2013 and May 2013 and June 2013

                  and so on....

This cannot be achieved through filter

                  Thanks,

                  Praveen

                    Hi Praveen,

Ok I added four sheets. The sheet Select Range does what I think you require. You may select any financial year and add any number of months of the following financial year. You can either move the slider or click on the dates and enter manually or use the calendar pop-up.

You must just click on the Order Date filter on the top RHS and select the start date and end date and it should do what you require. I have selected FY2012 and added April/May 2013. I have also added running total per Q and per Y plus subtotals per quarter as well as grand total. These are all standard filter functions. I have also copied this sheet and made a line graph as you require.

The other sheets use the page filter and quick filter  using year to look at each financial year only.

                    Hope this helps.
