I'm editing the workbook to pull out extra fields and such ... but If I wanted to just attach an excel file with 10 LA county zip codes and have you walk me through how to build the map where we would only highlight three of them I'm not seeing how I would attach the Excel given the above icon options.
I'm fairly new to the forum maybe the support community site does not support excel attachments? Thanks! TC

Attaching an Excel file doesn't really help, especially given that your original explanation isn't exactly clear.
To attach a file you need to switch into the advanced editor - just above the reply textbox in the top left corner there is a link 'use advanced editor'.
Please attach a Tableau Packaged workbook to show what you've achieved so far.

Hi TC,
Are you analysing the Zip Codes, or the County. It makes a difference as to how you are going to set this up.
Personally I would merge the ZIP code shapefile and the LA county shapefile in QGIS or ESRI first.

I have attached the workbook. What I would like is to show is an outline of LA County only with no other counties and then the ten zip codes highlighted. The analysis is at the zip code level. What is important is to be able to show where these zip codes are in relation to other zips codes (this would highlight are these grouped together? Are they all connected?)

Almost there - fade out all other counties and most of the zip codes in LA except for a handful (choose any for this example). I would probably use a filled map and would want to see the zip numbers of only the highlighted zip codes.How did you outline just LA county?

What is the purpose of the calculation field?Do you think there is a way to fade out all other counties except for LA; I like the outline - is there anything in particular you did to get that?
