We are in the process of converting to EPIC, it is definitely something that I would like to try however I may be restricted on direct connection for some time due to some legal issues regarding how we are receiving our EPIC implementation. It is definitely something I would like to try. If I have any luck I will let you know.
That's something I've been curious about as well, Staeppan. You must be referring to this: http://onlinehelp.tableausoftware.com/v6.1/pro/online/en-us/examples_cache.html
Interestingly enough, it's only in the 6.1 online help.
I wonder if the DBAs who have to maintain the Chronicles databases would be receptive to folks using anything other than Reporting Workbench, as these reports directly affect the production environment.
Yes Mark, that's the document I found in the older Tableau v6 online help that talks about connecting Tableau to Cache.
Our production Chronicles instances are all mirrored in close to real time. It's the second mirror Chronicles instances that is usually used for operational reporting using Reporting Workbench. We'd like to explore using other query and analysis software, especially a product such as Tableau. Reporting Workbench output does integrate with the Epic Hyperspace environment but we have increasingly complex operational analytic needs that extend beyond what Reporting Workbench can provide.
