    Request Rejected by Server

    Giovanni De Smet

      Hello all

Lately we are experiencing some issues with a dashboard on our Tableau server.

The following error pops up on the screen.

I can't find any solution in here, in the logs or on the web.

We are running Version 8.0.2 (Build 8000.13.0605.1330)

Can anyone help us out with this?

      Thanks

          Hello Giovanni,

Is it possible to try accessing the view from another browser (for example, Firefox or Chrome)? In this case, it may be best to contact our Support team (support@tableausoftware.com) so they may work with you to determine what may be causing the issue and recommend steps for resolving it.

          Cheers!

          - Jordan

            Hi Smet,

Did you find the solution for the issue faced, I'm exactly facing the same error after changing the filters when accessing the Tableau View.

            Thanks,

            Prem

              Giovanni,

I am currently working with a customer, regarding this same error message. If you are using Internet Explorer 9, or later, the following steps will help you to remove compatibility mode, which has been known to cause these error messages.

              Compatibility Mode settings for Tableau

Background:  In Internet Explorer (IE), many users' browsers are set to 'Compatibility Mode'.  This mode allows the current version of IE to work with sites that would normally break when viewed with later versions of IE.  Tableau sometimes struggles with Compatibility Mode and may cause error messages.

As such, Tableau recommends turning off Compatibility mode off using the following steps (total time to complete these steps is 1-2 minutes)

Close all open instances of Internet Explorer

              • Open a new instance of Internet Explorer
              • Click Tools then click Delete browsing history

              image013.jpg

              • In the Delete Browsing History dialog box, tap or click the History check box, and then tap or click Delete

              image014.jpg

              • Tap or click Tools, and then tap or click Compatibility View settings

              image015.jpg

              • Clear the Display intranet sites in Compatibility View check box, clear the Include updated website lists from Microsoft check box, and then tap or click Close

              image016.jpg

              • Restart the system

Also, if a proxy exists, then the timeout settings may need to be increased, as some dashboards may take longer than the default setting to render.

              Hopefully this helps!

I know sometime it's not easy to simply just upgrade but there have been quite a lot of bug fixes, some may be even related to this issue since version 8.0.2. If possible, I would also say to upgrade to at least the latest 8.0.x series, if not the 8.1.x or 8.2.x or 8.3.x series. Release Notes | Tableau Software.

Even we used to face issues while using 8.1.7 tableau server with IE 8. When we contact tableau support, obvious recommendation was to upgrade IE to IE9 which was not possible due to organization standard. We never faced issues with chrome but unfortunately chrome was not support by IT within our organization. Once we upgraded to 8.3, this issue was gone.
