I thought it would be removed if you go to Edit the Tooltip and de-select the "Include command buttons" option:
Someone else posted the same question earlier, and claimed that unchecking this box did not work for them--I tested it on several published workbooks, and it did work for me on certain chart types--so I'm curious to hear your response.
Thanks for responding - for me, deselecting that box simply removes the buttons (Keep Only, Exclude, etc..) on the bottom of the tip. The count and sum on the row header remains.
Boy, that is really strange. Perhaps they act different for different chart types? I was working with a bar chart--when selecting two bars, the "status" stuff was listed--however, when I de-selected the "Include command buttons" option, the status stuff does not show up in the published workbook when I select marks and hover over them.
I am seeing the same behavior as you, now, so perhaps there was something else going on or I was misunderstanding what was happening.
Either way, I'd love an easy way to remove this as well!
Archie, is this a published workbook or are you looking at it in Desktop?
It appears from your screen shot that you've selected "Frisco" as a City member, and Tableau is showing you the # of records corresponding to Frisco and the aggregate measure for those records. This is how Tableau works.
There's no way to eliminate or configure the tooltip Tableau presents when you select Dimension members. Being able to do so is one of the longstanding requests from the community.
