Ed, opening up a support case might be the best idea since you won't be able to post the workbook in question.
What happens if you move the sheet somehwhere else in the dashboard and then re-publish? Does it work then? What about slightly re-sizing the sheet in question inside the workbook?
I tried your suggestions and unfortunately it didn't work
Specifically, I tried the following:
- changed position within a container
- changed the size of the object
- deleted then re inserted the object
- moved the object outside its original container
Thanks for your response though

Hi, Edward. Here are three ideas that relate to the size, position, and front/back of the object.
Check the dashboard size to see if it's automatic or fixed. I've gone to using fixed dashboard size for my work (Setting the Dashboard Size | Tableau Software).
The next option I'd look at is tiled vs. floating element for that object. If it's floating, it could be behind another object.
Third, check to see whether or not there is some "send to back / bring to front" functionality that you can control.
Ed - did you find a solution? I have the same problem. The object is there (cursor changes) but is invisible.
Tableau - this seems to be a bug in 8.1 - any guidance?
I didn't find a solution. In the end end I rebuilt the affected dashboard object. This is obviously not ideal but none of the other solutions worked for me
I had a similar problem and found that in my Desktop version I was developing in Device Type: Default. When I changed this to Device Type: Desktop, the object I had added and was missing on Tableau Server was gone. I re-added the object with Device Type: Desktop set, saved, published and problem was resolved.
