SAML single sign on: Is it an alternative for trusted authentication?

    Deepak G Nair

I am using tableau trusted authentication  in embedded BI. As per the documentation for Tableau 8.1, SAML can be used for single sign on process.  But, as of the documents I have referred,  I got an idea that Tableau SAML is typically used  for making an Identity Provider(IdP) for logging into Tableau server. So as far as I understood, it is not as used as trusted authentication  in embedded BI. Please correct me if I got it wrong. Is SAML really usable for single sign on in embedding Tableau BI inside our application?
