Here's what I did and it works though it may not be the solution to what you want.
Log in on your Tableau portal page (http://yourServerName/auth).
Once logged in modify the URL in the address box to http://yourServerName/admin/systeminfo then hit 'Enter'. The XML will display on the screen.
Now, are you sure your IP address is static? I'm not a network dude but if it's a dynamicly assigned IP address then you need to enter a range of possible IP addresses. I think.
Thank you Toby. I am wondering if it is possible to skip the login step and load the systeminfo URL directly.
I have some additional information but no answer yet.
Our organization had Tableau 7.0 installed and used a script to check the systeminfo page regularly. The script did NOT have to log in.
Now that we've upgraded to Tableau 8.1, the script can no longer access the systeminfo page - it is getting redirected to the login page.
Has anyone else out there successfully accessed the systeminfo url without logging in, in Tableau 8.1?
we experience the same issue. We had a vbscript which we set up from another server to monitor the status remotely when tableau server goes down. As tableau doesnt throw an alert when server goes down. prior to 8.1.4 , we were using 8.0.6 from which we are unable to use the script. 8.1.4 prompts for a login and also doesnt allow to track status remotely
I'm looking for one such script where in an automatic mail to be triggered whenever there is some service down or Tableau Services becomes Unlicensed Unfortunately I'm not good at VB script in fact no experience with VB script. If you can help me achieving that would be much helpful.
