Is this dashboard a separate workbook entirely, or another dashboard in the same workbook?
Terminology--A worksheet is a single sheet inside a workbook. A dashboard is a collection of worksheets, and we can have multiple dashboards in one workbook file. A workbook is a collection of sheets and/or dashboards in one file.
People often use the term "dashboard" to refer to a "workbook". Knowing and describing exactly what you are trying to do will help you get the best possible response on the forum.
However, creating an action between two dashboards in one workbook is certainly possible. And you should be able to create a simple link to another workbook, but you won't be able to pass filter values to the other workbook.
If you can post your workbook, I can show you how to create a link from that button.
Here's a very simple example you can examine: Workbook: Example Link two workbooks
Note that it will open in a new tab/window--there is no way to change that as far as I know.
Can you please share the same ( to make a hyperlink between two dashboard) to my mail id. I couldn't find the result in the mentioned link... "Workbook: Example Link two workbooks".
Thanks in Advance.
Thanks for response. Matthew, How to pass the Parameters from one dash board to another dashboard.
We are about to create a drill down,ie.. by clicking the date(filter) we will get the count of items. When we click the items count it will lead to another dash board where we will get the names of items for that particular date.
You can use URL parameters to filter views. I've never built anything with the interaction you're describing, so I'm not sure what your options are, exactly.
Thanks Mathew, Now, I have two sheets. In A1 sheet i use date parameter to filter the values, Date(In year) ranges from 2013,2014. Where else in A2 sheet i use again use the date parameter to filter the values. Here Date(In year) ranges from 2011,2012,2013,2014.
I have combined both sheets and made a dashboard.I need to make date as common quick filter to filter the values in both the sheet at one click.By using Quick filter -> apply to all worksheet.I couldnt find the proper result in such case.
Do we have any option to custom the date value in above scenario,so that i could use single click to filter both the sheets in the dashboard.
Both the sheets belongs to same data source but each sheet fetches the items from two different table.
I'm not sure based on your description of the problem, but you can certainly apply parameters to multiple sheets (and even multiple data sources). The link above should provide a good example. However, in your scenario, that parameter would list 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014, and two of those years don't apply to one of your sheets, so this could be very confusing to your users.
Coming a bit late on this discussion. Do you have any recommendation if I already have a web part in my dashboard? Without a web part your trick works perfectly. However with one the link appears directly in the web part and not as a new tab...
