I tried that and they pointed me to the forum...!
DOH! That's not cool. Contact Tableau Support.
Hey Peter -
Sorry that you got bounced around a bit!
I'm not an expert on this stuff, but from what I understand, here's what you need to do in order to use Good with an app:
Good requires that the application vendor (Tableau, in this case) add some stuff (custom security libraries from Good) to the app so that it works with the Good platform. Typically, vendors do this when their applicaton downloads and stores data locally on the device. The Tableau iPad app doesn't store data on the device, so it doesn't incorporate the Good security libraries.
The app will work just fine over regular VPN, or you can use Mobile Safari (which supports Good) to connect to Tableau Server and browse reports.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Russell. We are having a call with Tableau next week to see what we can do to move forward, I have sent on your comments to my IT dept. Thanks
Any update on the outcome ? Hope you can share with us your solutions.
Hi Peter, I had this issue recently. While the Tableau app does not currently seem to work under GOOD, the GOOD browser works fine with Tableau Server so we used that instead. In the end this was slightly better as we could embed vizzes into a branded web page skin designed for ipad.
Just a quick note to let you know that we have created a version of the Tableau Mobile app for iOS that has the Blackberry (formerly GOOD) SDK integrated into it for customers who deploy apps using a MAM-based approach. If you would like to participate in our beta program for this app, please send me a private message.
We just launched the Tableau Mobile for BlackBerry app today (for iOS) - check out: Introducing Tableau Mobile for the BlackBerry Dynamics platform (iOS)! Please use it, advertise it and if you have any feedback, do not hesitate to contact me directly via a private message!
