# Is it possible to create a blank column using a measure?

I have a worksheet with a total of 4 measures and I would like to add some space between the second and third columns while retain the current distance between the first two columns and the last two columns.

Normally, I would just create a second worksheet for the last two measures but this particular table has a vertical scroll bar and, unless I am mistaken, I don’t believe there is a way to link two worksheets so they will scroll in tandem.

If you can have the pills as discrete you could have a calculation with the value:

"        "

And place this in:

Hi Alex,

First, a very belated thanks for the suggestion.

Next, while your suggestion works like a charm when dealing with discrete only pills, my worksheet, unfortunately, has 4 continuous measures.

Are you aware of any application tricks that would apply to continuous measures?

Thanks,

Bobby

Hi Bobby,

What Alex is suggesting is to convert your pills on Rows shelf from Continuous to Discrete (blue pills).

Try it. It will work. Otherwise, post your workbook to do it for you.

Best,

Ramon

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks, as always, for coming through with a solution.

I just knew there had to be a way to trick the application into creating an empty  column and now, thanks to you and Alex, I have a solution for blue and green pill situations.

Thanks,

Bobby

Hi Alex,

I came across your answer when seraching for a similar query.  As I am quite new to Tableau, would you mind elaborating on this please? How do I create the blank field?

Also, is it possible to use this field to input data by the user?

Hi Jonathan,

I have the similar requirement with little change change. I've had altered your attached dashboard like below. Is there a way, we can show REGION also BLANK WHEN MEASURE VALUE also EMPTY. If i can show REGION also BLANK(EMPTY) for the ENTIRE ROW,, then i am meeting my requirement.
