This appears to be a bug. I will file an issue internally, but I can't commit to a timeframe for having it resolved.
thanks for the quick reply. Once it has been identified as an internal issue, will you be able to communicate a timeframe for it? We would very much move forward with Tableau, but this issue is a blocker for us.
No, I will not be following this issue carefully. Please work with your existing contacts at Tableau to follow the status of this case.
You may be able to work around the problem in the meantime by setting your SQL_SQL_COMPLIANCE level to '0', and adjusting your other capabilities to compensate for the functionality that will no longer be enabled by default. In your situation the driver is claiming support for at least an entry-level compliance with SQL-92, but if the database does not support sorting by the ordinal position of a SELECT expression then the database is not truly SQL-92 compliant. This is a bug with the database / driver. While Tableau offers capability overrides to compensate for bugs in the driver or database, we can't commit to a timeframe for addressing any problems with these overrides. Ultimately the responsibility for fixing the actual bug in the database / driver rests with the vendor.
