    dynamic axes values

    rainer.hartinger

      Hi

I would like to create a diagram, where the user could change the startvalue of the x-axis dynamicly on tableau server.

      Is this possible?

      Thanks for help.

          Hi Rainer,

If you are working on a date field you can achieve the same by putting date field in quick filter & choose start date according to your requirement. If this will not fulfill your requirement please attach a sample .twbx, so that we can understand your requirement much better.

          Warm Regards,

            Hi Prashant

            thanks for your answer.

But I´m not working with a date field. I have a diagram like this

Now I want that the y-axis starts at 100.000$ like this:

But the y-axsis is now fixed.

Is there a way to have a parameter, where the user types a value and the y-axis starts at this value?

            Thanks.

            Rainer

              Hi,

Disable "include 0" & choose "Independent Axis ranges for each row & column" & put [sales] in quick filter & choose range will solve your issue.

              If not let me know.

                Hi Prashant

                this helped me a lot.

But now I have another problem. This is my diagram.

Now I want that the y-axis starts at value. If i type the value in the filter then this happen:

But this is not what I want.

The target is that the y-axis starts at the reference line "value" and the values of "sum(sales)" over this line should stay.

Is there a way to solve this problem?

                Regards

                Rainer

                  Hi,

I do not think that this is possible for this viz because you are showing Stacked Bar. But may be someone from community will help you in this.

                  Warm Regards,

                    Hi Rainer,

The requirement that you described in your latest post is not a good practice. You said:

The target is that the y-axis starts at the reference line "value" and the values of "sum(sales)" over this line should stay...

It is not a good practice to move the origin of y-axis.

In your previous implementation, I seems that you are filtering the data by Sales. That is not recommended because you are removing data from the analysis.

I suggest you to follow other approach, assigning a color to those items which Sales is higher that the Target. This means that in the chart you will easily identify those items that are below and/or above the target.

I use the Parameter Sales Target to define a dynamic target and a calculated field IsTaregtReached to assign color to items based on the criteria of reaching or not the Target.

                    See the attached workbook.

                    I hope this helps,

                    Ramon

                      Hi Ramon,

no sorry this is not what I mean.

I was last week on a tableau event and there I ask some tableau guys. They told me that I can´t solve my problem at the moment.

Maybe when they have dynamic parameters.

                      Thanks for help.

                      Regards

                      Rainer
