If you check "Only Relevant values" on the Customer Segment filter on Sheet 2, you will get this. In order to see ALL segments after that, simply uncheck and check the "All" option. See attached

Thank you mathew.
sorry i forgot to specify that the filter naming and names under it are different. But technically they are same.
how can i link them. sorry one more question
I don't understand what you mean.
Here is the example i can give. i think its weird but this is the scenario
Filter 1 : Customer Segment
- Home Office(yellow)
- Small Business(red)
Filter 2 On sheet 2
- Consumer Discount
- Corp Discount
- Home Discount
- Buz Discount
So clicked on blue on sheet 1 should select Consumer discounts in sheet 2 filter 2
Similarly clicked on small business i.e red should select Buz discounts in sheet 2 filter 2
I would need to see an example workbook to be able to help. Someone else may be able to advise you based on your description, but I'm still learning myself.
To clarify before I answer incorrectly, do you mean that you want to select, let's say... Don McCormick's red bar in the sheet and have this filter sheet 2 for ALL Small Business Discounts, not just Don's? I think what you are saying now is that it is filtering for the segment type for the specific customer.
No not for specific customer. sorry for the confusion
Not just Don's. I need to show "all the customers" related to small business.
Thanks for asking.
That's exactly what I thought. The issue here is you set up a normal action between the 2 sheets. Tableau hasn't been told any differently, so it assumes you want to filter all of the specific dimensions relating to this metric. As such, Tableau will filter the Customer Name AND Customer Segment. If you were to throw other dimensions in the view, it would try to filter for those as well. To remedy this, edit your current action and switch the Target Filter from All Fields to Selected Fields like so:
You then just need to tell Tableau what field you want to pass. In this case, it is only the Customer Segment field, not the Customer Name field as well. I made this work in the attached workbook, and threw in the Customer Name on sheet 2 so you can verify this. Originally there was no customer name, so if you would like to remove this from sheet 2, go for it - the action will still work. It will instead show the sum of all the customers who have Small Business discounts.

I tried it by selecting target filters-->selected fields
i can add filter-->source-->field
but cannot see the target field
i can't see the column (which is a dimension in my case) in the target field list.
I think i am doing something wrong.:(
Did the workbook I included not solve your use-case? If it did, you just need to filter FROM Customer Segment TO Customer Segment... this tells Tableau you only want to carry over the corresponding customer segment, not the customer name as well.
whatever you said is correct but its not working in my case ..
can anyone help me
Can you post the actual workbook, or screenshots of what you are seeing?
The problem with my dashboard is the source filter has measure and target filter has a dimension column.
