Is it possible to connect Tableau to a HiveServer2 secured by LDAP authentication?

      Hello,

In Cloudera CDH4 Hadoop distribution, you can enable LDAP authentication with HiveServer2:

      HiveServer2 Security Configuration

There is no password input in the Cloudera Hadoop Hive Connection wizard.

Is it possible to connect to HiveServer2 secured this way, or is Kerberos authentication the only option?

If no, will it be in a  future version of Tableau?

      Regards,

We are experiencing the exact same issue with our MapR instance (using Tableau 8.0.5).  We use LDAP authentication and not Kerberos, but it appears Kerberos is the only way to authenticate using HiveServer2.  Our ODBC HiveServer2 LDAP connection do work, but since we support 100+ different sites (business teams) on our clustered enterprise Tableau Server, we don't want to enable ODBC connections (and the requirement to maintain those multiple connections for all of our business teams).

Has anyone else determined if LDAP authentication works with HiveServer2?

          Thanks,

          Ben
