I honestly don't know this answer but is there anything here that may help?
I would think the connection time is set by your dba folks...have you spoken to them about this? I know our DB2 will terminate a connection if the query takes longer than 10 minutes (my guys aren't in yet so I can't ask them about this ).
I just spoke w/my DB2 dba and, basically, you need to talk to your dba. Something to do with authentication, connection settings, stuff on your end may not be set up correctly. In other words, it's not a Tableau issue.
The DBA does not set up a time to connect that stops at 60 seconds. This is for Desktop and just doing a data connection to DB2 tables. I don't think you can imagine how big our environment is. It may have in the tens of thousands of tables (instances?) in there. It seems Tableau wants to identify all tables before doing the connection and there are too many tables to identify all before the 60 seconds completes.
I am hoping there is a registry change to make this time out be 120 - 240 seconds.
I also think the link you provided refers to the server. I'm using desktop and should have put that in my initial question.
Thank you for your help though.
I cannot replicate the issue. It may have been a fluke in our environment. Thanks for the comments.
