Hi Thai, when T connects to your data it looks at the first row and then guesses what type field probably is. I'm going to guess that some of your users have a blank or a Null in the first row, while other users don't. That's the only thing I can think of that would create this result.
ALL users look at the SAME table. Bt yet, some have problems and some don't.
Also, there is NO blank value for this date column.
But after manually changing the type to Date, everything works fine for everyone? BTW, something is fooling Tableau into thinking it's a string, but in only some cases. So until you find that something, there's really not much more we can do to help you. You might need to file a support case.
Users are connected to the data via a common and shared TDS file on a network file share folder. Those that have the problem still have the problem both via TDS and direct-connect to the MS SQL Server.
To correct, either I change the data type in SQL Server to date/time and not just date.
Or each affected user has to manually correct it by changing it to "date" in Tableau. But then next time they open up the TDS file, same issue.
A few of us that don't have the problem at all - either via TDS or direct-connect.
Yeah I might open a support case.
