Any one having any idea on this. Is it possible or not possible at all ?
This is not what I am looking at. Effectively you are making the filter mandatory which is not the case.
Folks anyone is having any idea or workaround for this issue.
So you want to give possibility to take off all filters? How many "name"will you have? Because if you have only those two, why don't use single value slider or dropdown? In same kind of situations I usually try to limit user's possibility to make bad choices.
Hopefully someone knows better solution.
This is just an example.
Real Application will have 10 different filters(name, firstname, lastname etc) with 100's of values and user will select anything. At that time it may result in blank sheet.
(Also We have something called "Show relevant filter value" kind of cascading effect but it does not work properly when user goes back and fourth from one filter to another filter.)
So Error message will be ideal if we can intimate user that filters are selected in a way that data is resulting in blank sheet. ( This is how any web application will work right)
I guess there should be way to show error message when sheet is hidden(Goes blank) by filter selection.
Any solution available or this is not achievable in tableau.
Hi mkumar mkumar,
did you manage to get a solution to this?
I have a similar situation whereby we need an error message if selections result in blank sheets... eg if viewer selects a region but already has another filter in place that is lower down the hierarchy (eg town) that doesn't occur in the newly selected region. Region filter based on map items (via action filter), town a drop-down quick filter... both impacting various charts...
Anyone else have an idea..?
Had previously tried to have floating items behind each other, but hadn't worked. Didn't realise it would work if using a container item. So the simple solution from Joshua worked - thanks for the very quick response.
