# creating a calculated variable with different denominators

Hello,

I am trying to generate a percentage where I have different denominators.  I have a sum(count) already generated in my table crossed by categories and subcategories.

My question is how can I calculate the percent of these sum counts when each category has a different denominator?  For example the sum of aspect_ratio is 540 while the sum of budget is 318.

Hi Angela welcome to the forums! Most forums folks are off in DC, drinking at the moment. So a very few of us are left to help answer your question. Do me a big favor and read this document and then attach the appropriate file. I'm fairly certain we can come up with a solution for you.

Cheers,

In DC, but still answering questions!

Angela--you can create one or more calculations to achieve what you want to do, but like Shawn said, it is difficult to show you without having access to a Workbook.  You can create an Excel file with the data you've shown, and create a packaged workbook in order to get the best response here on the forum.

Welcome, and good luck.
