In an online survey, I ask "How would you describe yourself today?" I give a few options (shareholder, journalist, job seeker etc) and "Other". People who select "Other" are given another list (employee, business partner etc).
Do I need to consolidate the responses to the two parts of the question into a single column in the Excel spreadsheet? Or can I consolidate them in Tableau? I'd like to do as little manipulation in Excel as possible to reduce the possibility of errors.
A calculated field similar the following should be able to work:
if [Visitor role1]="Other" then [Visitor role2] else [Visitor role1] end
