How many rows were you dealing with? How much hard disk space was left when the error occurred.
I have nearly half million rows on the database and I have 319 GB free of 500 GB of hard drive space. I actually tried it to a laptop with 8 GB RAM and it worked perfectly.
Hmm. 500K rows is pretty small – but then again, your laptop probably doesn’t have tons of memory left after the OS and other programs get what they need.
The following registry entry MIGHT get you a little bit further down the road in this regard. I’m assuming that you know your way around the windows registry and know how to edit it. If you don’t, please hit up someone in your IT department to add this setting for you. Make sure to back up your registry before making any changes, etc. etc.
· Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tableau\Tableau 8.0\Settings
· Create a string value key called ExternalProtocol
· Set the value of that key to “disabled”
· Close Tableau if it happens to be open…then relaunch and try again
