Are you talking about using a quick filter? If so, one option may be to create a worksheet that has a list of employees and place it on a dashboard with the other sheet. Then, use a filter action.

I do have a filter based on an ID that is entered in a form which used to customize the dashboard. I have found a solution by displaying all of the ID's in a crosstab then implementing an action on click which calls a URL with the new ID.
This allows for someone to login with ID 123 but then they also will have the flexibility to select ID 456 or 789 to see the data specific to those individuals as well.
