Using a parameter as a selectable filter

I was poking around for a solution today and did not really find documentation of what I was looking for. I found a workable solution and wondered if this technique has been documented or if writing a tutorial would be useful?

In the very simple example linked below, the user can select the dimension he or she wants to filter by using the parameter control.  This updates the list of matches below which when clicked act as a filter to the primary workbook.
