    Downloading underlying data

    Rich Lucas

When I download the underlying data on a published worksheet it downloads in in excel and each row is in one column all separated by comma's, how do I have it downloaded so it will separate the columns upon download?

Also, If I have numbers with comma's as a separator (i.e., $1,234.34), how do I distinguish where to separate when converting?

Any help on changing data download options or work arounds would be great!

You just need to tell Excel to parse it using commas and quotes. Press the Text to Columns button on the Data ribbon. Then choose Delimited on the first page, check comma and make sure the Text Delimiter is " on the second page and press finish. No need to change anything in Tableau.
